Karma is defined in Indian religions as the concept of “action” or “deed,” which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect. Another way to look at it is—“do onto others as you would have them do unto you.” In other words, do good things and good things will happen to you. Now is the time to do something good; consider nominating one of our worthy colleagues for an ASHS award, and be the recipient of good karma for participating in the nomination process.

The Montgomery Botanical Center (MBC) was named the newest ASHS ­Horticultural Landmark in a ceremony held August 4, 2012, at the center’s grounds in Coral Gables, Florida. The Award was presented to the MBC’s Executive Director Patrick Griffith by ASHS Board Member Mike Arnold, past Horticultural Landmark Selection Committee chair George Fitzpatrick, and ASHS Executive Director Mike Neff.

This year’s election of officers for the ASHS Board of Directors by the ASHS Membership places Mary Meyer as President-elect, Sandra Wilson as Education Division Vice President-elect, Jeff Olsen as International Division Vice President-elect, and Patricia Knight as Research Division Vice President-elect.
