New Website, New Look, New Interaction
Monday, March 31, 2014
ASHS is pleased to announce the NEW ASHS website and Member Community! This new site offers many new features for ASHS members to interact with other members, in addition to giving you full control over your professional and personal information, and what you’d like to share with other ASHS members.
The ASHS website is now fully integrated with the membership database in a “social network”-based setting. Signing into the site gives you full access to all member-only benefits and features, including a greatly enhanced membership directory, current and past issues of the ASHS Newsletter, Working Group online communities, your own ASHS member profile page, and much more!
We invite you to sign in, review your profile information and make any changes, join Working Groups, and have a look around. The first step is to Sign In!
Signing in as an ASHS Member
In the upper right, Sign In using your current ASHSmember login/password (don’t “Join Now” . . . you’re already an ASHS member!). If you don’t remember your ASHS login and password, you can click on the “forgot password”, put your email in, and a link will be sent to you to change your password. You can make your login/password whatever you want them to be.
Once you’re logged in, go to Manage Profile (on the right under “My Profile”). There you can make any changes to your information you see fit under Edit Bio in Information and Settings. In Preferences, you can chose what types of notifications you’d like to receive. Content and Features is where you manage your wall content—your own blog, photo gallery, additional pages in your profile (up to 10), a file library, etc. Community controls your interactive options with other ASHS members, and Networking & Careers is the place for your online resume. Only ASHS Members can see any of this information—it is not available to the public at large.
To see some of the possibilities available to you, please visit Richelle Stafne’s wall (you can find her in the online directory). Richelle has activated several of the features available to every member on her wall.
A New ASHS Working Group World
Every ASHS Working Group now has its own online community and web homepage. WGs can stay active all year long through online forums, blogs, wikis, calendar, photo galleries, and file libraries. We’ll be developing the WG pages out in the near future and will keep you
informed of the progress and all the possibilities to have all ASHS Working Groups be vibrant online professional communities.
But first, you need to join your Working Groups! In the top pulldown menus, go to Membership > Join the ASHS Member Community and Working Groups. Then, just click on the blue Working Groups and you’ll go to a list of all the Working Groups in alphabetical order. Click on the names of those you want to join, you’ll be taken to the WG page, and just click the “Join now” icon at the top of the page. Note: You won’t immediately see yourself in the WG or profile changes in the Directories as that requires the site to “re-index” itself every 8 hours or so.
All ASHS Members are automatically part of the overall ASHS Member Community (as the Primary Community), so you don’t need to do anything there. Please don’t choose to leave this group (though you can). This is how most primary Society communication will be with members in the future, along with many interactive features.
You will find renewing your ASHS Membership a much easier experience! If your membership is expiring soon,
you’ll receive notification from this new site 30 days in advance. You can check your membership status and expiration under Membership Info under My Profile. When you sign in within 30 days of the end of your annual membership you’ll see a small notification that your membership expires in “xx” days. Clicking that will take you to the renewal form, already filled out with your member information. You can choose your journal subscription options, any dues to other organizations you’d like to also pay, and even make a donation to the Endowment Fund. When you’re finished, you’ll immediately get an email with a link to your dues receipt that you can download and/or print out. If you prefer to renew by mail or fax, you can choose the Bill Me or Check option and you’ll immediately be emailed a link to access your invoice.
Please explore your new website! We’ve had many positive comments from many ASHS members on how easy the system is to use and navigate. More than 2000 members have logged into the site since launch on March 6! We’re updating features and capabilities all the time, and will announce new changes and additions through email and the newsletter. Everyone at ASHS hopes you enjoy the new site and will be a regular visitor. If you have any difficulties or encounter any glitches or issues, please let us know . . .we welcome everyone’s help during this major transition.
