- About Us
"From an early age, I developed a love of golf, by playing competitively and supplementing allowances by caddying and working in maintenance on his local golf course. After graduating, I worked in various turf related fields, including working in sales of golf course related products, and a stint as an assistant golf course superintendent," explains Greg Letsche, now a Senior Design Associate for Nicklaus Design.
Letsche is responsible for all phases of golf course design, construction and development. His work spans from initial client contact through to the opening of the golf course. He is also responsible for maintaining a relationship with the client and their staff throughout the duration of the project, and ensuring their needs are met.
Letsche says the most rewarding part of his job is "taking a raw piece of land, and while taking on the challenges that the environment and other external elements provide, creating a golf course for people to enjoy for years to come."
Letsche's interaction with students in the Turf Club was an important part of his decision to go into golf course design. Letsche also gained valuable experience with his internships at the OSU golf course and NCR Country Club. His advice to anyone interested in golf course architecture is to "gain as much practical experience working with a golf course construction company as possible, as this has proved invaluable in the design process."
