Applications for the award are accepted annually from mid November through May 15.
This award is open to all undergraduate and graduate horticulture students who plan to attend the ASHS Annual Conference.
The award is based on the following:
b. Letter of recommendation from undergraduate advisor or faculty member
c. 500 word essay outlining interest in horticulture and career goals
Scoring System (100 points total)
a. GPA (based on 4-pt system) - 30 points for 4.0
b. Letter of Recommendation - 20 points
c. Essay - 50 points
The judging will be conducted by Industry Divison VP, Industry Divison VP Elect, and one additional ASHS member. In the event of ties, the ASHS Board of Directors will decide winners.
The award will be presented at Industry Division function at the ASHS Annual Conference.
Awardees must attend the ASHS Annual Conference.
About the Award:
The Industry Division Student Travel Grant was established in 2004 with a five-year commitment by the original sponsors.
Beginning with the 2010 grant cycle, two grants of $1000 each will be awarded annually to attend the ASHS Annual Conference.
Additionally, the ASHS Board of Directors has approved waiving the fees for conference registration and the Industry Division function.
