"Every day I learn something new and everyday I strive to apply that new knowledge to my research," says research plant physiologist Paula Pijut. As a researcher for the Hardwood Tree Improvement and Regeneration Center (HTIRC) at Purdue University, Pijut strives for excellence and welcomes new and exciting research opportunities. "You must be ready for change, to capture the opportunities, and capitalize upon these changes," explains Pijut.

As a graduate student at Ohio State University, Pijut gained valuable experience from her advisor. "His high ethical standards were inspirational to me and have provided a precedent for my career," says Pijut. Currently, Pijut works with fellow OSU alum, Dr. Charles Michler, Director of HTIRC.

Because research on agronomic crops, animals, and trees is so important to the world's well being and sustainability, career opportunities in the plant science industries are endless. "Plants are the lifeline of the world and we must try to make this a better place now and for the future," says Pijut.
